My friend and I recently purchased some parts off of the internet from various websites and were going to put together a computer for my friend's mother. Well to make a long story short, two motherboards later, the computer isn't booting up. We used an ECI K7S5A PRO (i think it's a pro anyway) an Athlon XP 2400 chip, GeForce 4 MX 440 4x AGP card, and 512 mb of pc2700 ddr ram. We put everything in the case, and checked our connections, and powered it on. The fans spun for a microsecond, then stopped. So we took that motherboard out, ordered another one, and I put that in myself. This new board came with a grounding strap, so i put that on and Placed the motherboard in the tower. Anyway, after i was done, i turned it on and the power was circulating fine. All fans were running and the cd light was coming on, but it wouldn't boot. I turned it off and let it sit for the night. My friend tried fixing it a couple of days later and now once again the fans spin to life, only to sputter out after a fraction of a second.
I need some help. I've done almost everything else pertaining to computer upgrades, but nothing involving placing the motherboard in the case.
