    Default Sound card

I have read at numerous places that you have to connect your CD drives to your sound card in order for you to have sound when playing CD's or whatever. Firstly, do you have to do this? My sound card is connected to my CD-RW drive on my dell, but is it necessary? Also, how would i do it if its necessary? What cable would i need, and does it come with the sound card? And finally, How would i do it with two CD Drives? (DVD and CD-RW)

If the sound is integrated there should be a place on the motherboard. Most sound cards I have seen allow for two drives to be connected.

The cables come with the drive.
