    Default Connecting Motherboard to Case

Hi , Please let me say that Im am not a computer wizard , not by any means ... I have a really low budget and have an ok system just now ...

My question is ... A friend has given me a computer case and a motherboard ... and I would like to connect them , I have no idea where the connection froim the case fit onto the motherboard ... the board is a PCCHIPS M863 , it has a AMD Athlon 1200+ cpu with heatsink and fan .... I would like to be able to get this comp up and running to possibly have it as backup incase my main computer acts up or maybe to use it in another room

I am a novice here so please if someone can help advise I'd only be too glad for your assistance

    Many thanks

    Hi,

Im assuming the case you have has a power supply in it, is that corrrect?
Is the CPU and fan already fitted to the motherboard or do you still need to plug that in?
Is the motherboard screwed into the case?

I just need to know what stage you are at really, are some parts already in the case, or have you basically go a pile of bits to put together?

    thanks

oh ok, the first thing to do is take a look at the motherboard layout, this link http://64.124.27.138/pcchips/manual/...63AG-G_15D.pdf should take you to a pdf file of you motherboard (page 12 or page 32 on pdf) this shows you where the connectors should go (for example HD_LED, POWER_SW etc)

Hopefully your case wires will be coloured and have initials on the part you plug in which match the diagram in the manual.

If your still not sure , let me know the wire colours and and letters on the connectors and i should be able to work out what goes where for you

    thanks

    hi,

First things first , did you download the manual as requested in a previous post? You will see the motherboard layout and pins, its a good place to start to get your bearings.
