    Default Pls help in upgrading!!

    Hello
I have a P4 2.4 Ghz and an original Intel Sea Breeze D845GVSR motherboard.
have a 256 MB Ram stick in it(PC2100 133 MHz)(quite old one).want to upgrade my Pc to play some games.....Can somebody guide me regarding what Graphics card I can use for that and to what level I should upgrade my RAM for playing games, want to keep the Processor and mobo same.My HDD is also 80 GB,planning to change it too as making a lot of whirring noise when I change windows from 1 tab to another. Will SATA HDD be compatible with my motherboard?
will my existing RAM can be used with any new Ram or should I all together change it?
    Pls guide regarding upgrade.
    Thanks
    mann

    Hi,

Its looks like your motherboard does not support SATA, so the only way to get SATA working would be to buy a pci SATA card and a new SATA hdd, otherwise just stick to IDE.

As for the graphics card the problem seems to be that the moterboard only has PCI slots, the current graphics cards are PCI-E or AGP which wont fit in your board, and hunting down a PCI card will be difficult.

As for you ram, again your motherboard has two memory slots, im assuming one is used by your 256mb stick, so you should be able to buy another 256Mb so put in the spare slot giving you a total of 512Mb which should be plenty..

You would need to check what ram you have already and make sure you match it like for like

Regarding your Hdd, i would go with seagate personally, they are a bit more expensive but like everything you have to pay for a bit extra quality

    Thanks Fabler
i checked out site, are u sure it will work with Intel 845GVSR mobo? As Tech Master told tht only a simple PCI card not the PCI-E will work with my mobo. And i was not able to spot that info in the site please guide.
    Thanks once again for help

    Thanks Tech Master
I too personally like Seagate since few of my friends have it,it's just that my local computer guy said that WD is the latest in market. So think will go by Seagate only. Thanks for guidance.

Hi, mann81, thanks for reply. Have a read here,http://www.mouthshut.com/review/Grap...-111552-1.html, that might be helpful.
The Novatech link should have shown the XFX GeForce 5200 128MB DDR TV-OUT PCI GPU. http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/s....html?XFX-FX52. This is a pci card and they're getting scarce now.
