    Default Upgrading the processor

Hi. I've got a Compaq Presario 17XL460 with an Intel PIII 700MHz processor which I'd like to upgrade. Problem is, I'm having a hard time finding info to tell me what it can handle - I'd like to get to 1-2GHz, but I just don't know where to look (this is all new to me) - any ideas? I know that the Mobo has a 370-pin L2 socket and this processor is a 370-pin, (Compaq #207672-001) Intel P-III 700MHz Coppermine, 100 front side bus 256Kb level 2 cache with Speed-Step Technology (this is from the HP web site & HP customer service).
    Thanks.

Yes, it is a notebook. I was just reading a C-Net course on upgrading your laptop, so I guess it is possible (maybe not on mine?).

I think perhaps you may be right...........maybe I'll just do the max RAM and leave it at that. It's fine for surfing and email, so I guess upgrading the cpu is not all that important. (yes, P-III is very difficult to find now...)
