I am going to make a change from xp to windows home server. I could not find a review on this site but am going to ask if anybody has done the change and for some advice on how easy or difficult it was.
I have a raid set up to start with, with both mirrored and striped set up as well as 2 drives on motherboard not in raid. The start up (mirror) drives need to have a clean install and the stripped drives are my only back up at this time. The back up drives have all of the info that I need to move to the new server when set up. The two drives on motherboard need to be formatted as they are from a old computer not used anymore.
Can I unmount the raid system and still be able to see the raid drives to transfer the files?
Is there a preferred method to transfering the file from a raid system to home server?
I understand that raid is not preferred when using windows home server as it has a built in system that looks like raid with the drives all looking like one drive and the ability to dup files on more that one drive.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
