Hi all, this is gonna be my first time upgrading my PC... shoulda learnt a while ago lol
Well I have a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop which has a 300W PSU...
I have plans to upgrade a lot of it in the future but the first thing that needs fixing is the PSU. I know its a standard ATX PSU but before I went ahead and bought a new one, I ran into some preoblems which have been bugging me
I read somewhere that the PSU needs to support the motherboard and all the components... I plan on having two hard drives, two optical drives and a good graphics card (not decided on which one yet). The drives all use SATA power cables. So what should I look for in a PSU?
I think it should have 4 SATA power cables and a standard 20+4 or 24 pin connection for the motherboard. Thats what I think lol
But I read somewhere the PSU needs to have cables to connect to all your PCI and PCIe slots. Is that true?
Sorry for the long post but if someone can tell me what type of cables the PSU will need to have that'd be a big help
Thanks all!
