Hi,
I have built many systems over the years and what i recommend doing is the following
1. Plan your system
I find a good idea is to plan what you intend to install in your system, for example number Hard drives, CD/DVD's, graphics card etc
2. Choose your case
When choosing a case try to get one that suits your system, for example if your planning on adding a few hard drives, make sure your case has added cooling to help prevent overheating.
Also make sure your motherboard will fit into the case, there are a few different ATX size motherboards and cases, double check both are compatible
3. Power supply
Make sure your power supply is powerful enough to support your system, a standard 350w is normally ok, but again if you adding more drives, high spec graphics card etc a higher rated power supply may be needed. Again its best to check the motherboard manual for recommend power supply ratings
4. Building your system
Most computer cases come with there own screws and fittings so it should be quite straight forward, my advice here would be to try and keep things tidy, dont have cables blocking cooling fans, keep the airflow clear if possible, use cable ties to neatly bunch up cables for example
i hope this is of use, if you need anymore assistance then feel free to ask
thanks
