    Default Poor sound on Webcam

Having successfully signed up to Windows Live Messenger in order to use my newly acquired Logitech QuickCam Messenger, Thanks to TechMaster and Dave, I established contact with my daughter who has virtually the same set-up as myself, namely, the above webcam feeding into a Campaq Presario. Unfortunately the sound quality is terrible, being continually broken up into machine-gun like bits. It is the same at her end also, so she tells me. So bad, in fact, that we resorted to typing our conversation. My question is: as we both have basically similar computers, although hers is new, while mine is about three years old, could it be something like an inadequate sound card, not that I know anything about the innards of computers, I'm just stabbing in the dark. Bewildered.

hi, try some of the following and see if it helps

If you experience poor audio quality, distortion, or echoing in Windows Live Call, try the following:
Run Audio and Video setup again
    1. On the Tools menu, click Audio and Video setup.
    2. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
    3. When you reach the end of the wizard, click Finish.

    Adjust your microphone
    1. On the Tools menu, click Audio and Video setup.
    2. Follow the instructions in the wizard. Use the slider to adjust the volume of your microphone.
    3. When you reach the end of the wizard, click Finish.

If your broadband connection runs at 256 kilobits per second (Kbps) or less
    1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
    2. Select the Optimize my experience for a low-bandwidth broadband connection check box, and then click OK.

My apologies, but I don't know how to do what you suggest, I don't know how to "run audio and video setup" again, I don't know where to look to find what I need. what do I click on to get it started, so that I can get the tools menu etc., I tried clicking on the Logitech icon, but that didn't look right (no wizard), also I tried clicking on Windows Live Messenger, but that was no good either. I have managed to get volume control sliders on the screen for microphone and speaker connections on my computer, and all these were set to optimum. Also Logitech have slider adjustments and a musical insert for adjusting ones system speakers to their webcam mic. bothered and BEWILDERED.

The tools menu is in windows messenger, it should be on the top of the window along with "file, contacts, actions, help" menus
