Default Copying files to CD or DVD

I have quite a lot of images in files on a computer that is due for its annual MOT at PC World, so I would like to save them to discs. I also have some CDs and some DVDs (writeables) with material already on them, to which I would like to add these images in my computer files. My question is: do I have to transfer the stuff that's already on the discs back into my computer first, and then burn it, and the present file contents onto the disc all in one go, or can I tack the computer material straight onto the end of the information already on the discs, just as one might go to the end of a film on a videotape and record a second film to follow on from the first. Obviously, I have managed to record my images onto disc in the past, for me to have discs with something on them, but it has been a hit and miss affair with me not really knowing what I'm doing, and because of my ignorance, I have lost valuable (to me) pictures. I believe I have to treat recordable DVDs differently to recordable CDs or use a different programme. Still BEWILDERED.

    Hi,
If you want to add new files onto a current DVD/CD you already have files on it really depends on how you originally created the dvd/cd, as you get an option to keep it open (multisession) or to close the cd when buring data to them.
If the option to close the cd session was enabled then once its written you cannot add more to it.
Im not sure what you use to burn cd/dvds but nero is a good start
