    Default Damaged Playstation CDs

I have a very badly damaged Motocross Playstation1 game which I have managed to get working again by using toothpaste, then car wax and finally vaseline! It is not long for this world, and I'd like to make a copy of it before it totally dies - is this stuff copyrighted and if so, am I allowed to/how can I make a copy and destroy the original? Thanks.

Even if you copy the cd, you wont be able to play "backup" copies of the games unless your Playstation is modded which is obvioulsy not legal

The PlayStation would have to be illegally modified? Oh forget it - I'll just throw it away after the vaseline stops working and find another one on Ebay or something.....what a pain. Thanks for the info though.
