Thread: Screen randomly Showing a black screen

Hello,

What is happening to my computer is that the screen randomly goes black and the light flashes orange like the screen is on stand by.

I'm almost certain its not the screen, and my computer was running fine last night, so I brought it down to being a virus or a graphics card problem. However the irus seems unlikely as it is getting faster and once it happened when XP was booting up.

my system specs are:

ASUS A7N8X - Deluxe
AMD Athlon 2600+ 2.06GHZ
x800 XT PE 256 MB
1 GB PC3200 RAM
Seagate Barracuda 200GB 7200 RPM S-ATA
Maxtor 80GB 7200 RPM IDE

Any ideas?

Check the monitor cable is plugged in securely.
Download Everest Free Edition (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html) and go to Computer > Sensor to see the temperatures and voltage values. Then go to http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_sup...or.php?cmd=AMD to calculate your system's power requirements (needs javascript enabled). Post back with the results.
