Hi,
My first guess would that you have knocked something while dusting, im sure you would have already checked but it may be worth having another look, make sure your speaker jack is plugged into the green socket on your sound card, follow the cables around make sure its all correct.
cable looks to be connected up ok . The speaker plug is yellow and tells you to connect up to corresponding socket with 'spk' on.

ok, give me the model number of your emachines pc, and I will check it out and get back to you.
My Computer is E Machines 220.
I have recently tidied up the programmes and think i may have deleted something to do with sound devices, as i keep seeing no sound device installed when tring to listen to a CD.
ok, lets check a few things quickly,
Im going to assume your running Windows XP, so if you goto control panel>Sounds and Audio Devices then click on the Audio tab and check you have playback and recording devices installed.
Also under control panel>system>device manager>sound video and game controllers
check for any yellow marks next to drivers, also check if you audio device is listed, if not sure then post back whats in the list and i can check for you.
Yes i am running windows xp.checked audio devices none installed.
No yellow marks that i can see.List says
Audio codecs
Audio codecs
Legacy audio drivers
Legacy Audio capture devices
Media control devices
Video codes
ok, that sounds like your problem, if you have no audio devices installed then you will probably have to reinstall your drivers for your sound card/device, these would of come pre-installed, or on a cd with your machine.
If you have a drivers cd, put it in, hopefully it will auto run and give you a menu, with an option to install sound/audio device.
I have resolved my speaker problem
