    Unhappy Computer turns off

my laptop keeps turning off and i dont know why. It gives no warning and can happen during anything. The bottom gets really hot, as does the metal parts of some connection ports. i dont think the battery is charging either as the computer will turn off if the lead is accidently pulled out or wont turn on if there is no mains power lead connected. Please can you tell me if there is something i can do?

    thanks x

It does sound like the laptop is overheating to me, also it sounds like you need a new battery, i assume it powers off even if your using it off the mains!

Acer seem to think it could be a virus problem, i guess its worth checking for virus or spyware if you havent done already.

I am speaking to someone at acer about it so will let you know what they say

    thanks

    Hi,

I finally got a reply from acer today , this is what they said

"These are symptons of overheating. We suggest that you use compressed air to clean the vent fans of the machine as a common cause is dust. Otherwise it will need to come into our repair centre but this would be considered a chargable repair".

Not the answer you were hoping for, but i think what they are saying is correct im afraid

    thanks
