    Default Mouse has stopped working

    Hello,

Yesterday, I was working on my PC and my mouse just stopped working. It's a Logitec MX Laser (Cordless). I thought that it might need charged, so I tried that. This morning, when I turned my computer on, it still wouldn't work. So, I shut down the computer again and attached my wired mouse. Still no mouse! Has this happened to anyone else here?

    Thanks,

    Jude

    Hi there,

I have heard of this a few times, but its been caused by many different things, virus, hardware fault, driver problem etc.

Do you know if your mice are both PS/2 connector or USB, if PS/2 can you borrow a USB one maybe or vice versa and try it?

Also maybe try a system restore (assuming your using windows XP) to the day when it all worked fine in case its a driver problem.

    thanks

    Thank you for your reply.

I have tried both types of mouse. The first (wireless) is a USB (tried in two different ports). The second (wired) I "plugged" into the back of the computer. (PS/2?). I didn't get either mouse to start working. Right now, I'm on my old "limp-along" computer that doesn't have enough resources to open more than two browsers, etc. The mouse does work on this (old) computer.

I have the other one on trying to go through the control panel mouse settings to see what I can see -- pretty tough without a mouse! It does say that the mouse is recognized. I printed out some shortcut keyboard keys I found at Microsoft.com.

    Thanks,

    Jude

I had similar problem with a wireless mouse
    In the wireless mouse ,
there may be provision to reset. have you tried it ?
Use a ball point pen tip !! Check all connections.
In Windows98 , If no mouse is connected
you will be prompted to add one after
switching off the computer. Then the usual procedure
to add drivers etc.( In Device Manager or Add new Hardware )
