Default S.M.A.R.T. status BAD, Backup and Replace

    Hi again

I get this message at boot up:

Pri Master Hard Drive:S.M.A.R.T. status BAD, Backup and Replace

Is this for real? I mean does this mean a 2 day old HDD is about to die on me?

Is there anyway I can repair it with Tools?
I have already downloaded Seagate's Seatools Desktop and all that did is tell me that the S.M.A.R.T. says 1 of my disks has a BAD status.

What does a S.M.A.R.T. threshold exeeded mean anyway?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,

The S.M.A.R.T feature is their to detect problems with the drives before they become completly unusable.

It sounds like the drive you purcashed is faulty so I would get that drive exchanged as it will just get worse and worse and you will lose all your data

    Thanks Tech-Master.

I will take your advice and take it back to the store.
