Thread: laptop booting problem

Hello all
I was wondering if any one smarter than me will be able to help.

I have recently been given a Sony vaio VGN FS415B with XP home edition.
However when i go to boot it up it will get as far as the windows logo and then just hangs! Have tried booting from dvd drive, doesnt want to know and all different modes safe mode last known config etc. But it starts to load drivers etc and then stops. Could this be a hard drive problem or windows problem.

Any help would be most gratefully recieved.

I would try and get hold of some sony diags for that laptop (if they do any), also do you have a copy of xp home install cd?

please excuse my ignorance but what is sony diags. Yes have xp home avalible
