Thread: CD Drive Not Working

Hi,

I have a LTR-24102M CD RW drive in my 2002 Dell Dimension 4300 running on XP. One minute I was backing up photo’s with no prob’s, next it wont read anything, it just flashes and spits the disc out – data, audio or photo. It is recognized by the system and I have re-installed the drivers but to no avail.
Can anyone please help on what the next course of action may be.

It sounds as if the drive has gone bad. You could try one of those laser head cleaning discs and also try this fix; http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_d...cd_dvd_fix.htm .
If they fail then it could mean a new drive.

Thanks for the advice I will try those links. The cd cleaner won't work as it doesn't accept any discs.
