I have a laptop by IANSYST systems, with XP, plenty of RAM and hard drive capacity. The problem is with the CD drive inasmuch as it plays CD's/DVD's okay, but when I want to back up a project (be it photos or music), a problem occurs...

I wanted to make a music CD, so I used Windows Media player to make a disc...I lined up enough music for the disc (in this case 74 minutes worth), it scanned the files and proceeded to copy them fine, until about the 4th track where Windows said there was "write" problem and then spat the disc out. I tried NERO, same thing happened about the 4th track again. I put the 4th intended track at the end of the copy list...but again it said there was a write error after 2 mins of copying. Ive tried changing the writing speed, different disc types, changing the music tracks but the problem always occurs after 2 mins or so of copying. Up to this point it has copied music/pics okay.

Anyone had similar problems and found a solution (other than Thor's hammer)? I thought it might need a new CD drive, but then why would it still play CD's/DVD's okay?...

Thanks for any help
