Default DVD Drive Problems - Doesn't Detect Some DVDs

    Hello,

I encountered an interesting problem yesterday. When I insert a DVD into my DVD Drive, it is shown as blank, eventhough, of course, it is not. The AutoRun pop-up identifies it as a `Blank CD'. I tried running the same DVD on three other computers and haven't found any problems. I even copied it to a different disc, but it still couldn't be read from.

However, I have also tried running other DVDs on my computer and had no problems with them, which would seem to indicate that the problem is not a hardware-based malfunction.

Anyone has experience with something similar or an idea for a solution for this?

    Thanks.

Microsoft has a "Fix" for Autoplay errors. Being microsoft whether it works or not can be a bit hit or miss

Read all the info on this website, It give several options that ou could try ( switching on/off explorer exe to get the DVD recognised.

Right at the bottom is the link to the M$ fix.
