Have an old Toshiba Satellite currently running Windows XP that has worked brilliantly as a main and latterly as a backup laptop. Unfortunately, main laptop died recently and was at repairers so needed to use the Tosh as backup, however, needed internet access via a Vodafone dongle and needed to install Windows XP SP2 in order to get the web access.

Installed SP2 and all worked fine for about 2 hours then the laptop switched itself off. Upon attempting to re-boot several times I just get a black screen with the message 'HDD Password:_'

Have checked manuals etc. but cannot find password, have never set it myself and have had laptop from new although obviously now well out of warranty.

Desperately need to access some files on this machine so any ideas / help would be greatly appreciated.
