    Default roxio problem

I have downloaded a dvd to my harddisc via Roxio creator DE. I have copied it to a blank disc via Roxio drag to disc, however it will not finalize. The disc ejects and a notice appears stating "please insert appropriate cd or DVD. The copy plays OK on the computer but my DVD player attached to the TV says "cant read disc" Is it me or do i need to adjust something??

OK ... What you are trying to do is burn a copy of a DVD ad play it using your DVD player via a TV set.

While this is pretty simple to do .. there is a learning curve that you need to go through.

    (a) You say you downloaded a DVD (A DVD is a bright shiney thing What you have downloaded is a file ... what you need to know is What type of file (AVI - ISO - etc etc) right click on the downloaded file and select properties to find out the file size and type (eg 700mb AVI)

    (b) Different areas of the world use different DVD formats. Only the more expensive DVD players can handle both types. What area of the World do you live in?

    (c) The message you get stating "please insert appropriate cd or DVD" might indicate that the original DVD had copyprotection on it so you can`t copy it.

    (d) Different DVD players play different movie types. A cheap DVD player in say the UK needs the DVD to be in Mp2 format and converted to "PAL"

Two very good programs for burning DVD`s for use on a DVD player are:

ConvertXtoDVD .... By far the fastest and best program but it does cost £35
AVI to DVD Video Converter Software VSO ConvertXtoDVD Download now

DVDFlick ... a lot slower than the above but still does a good job and it is Free
    DVD Flick

Both can burn both Pal or NTSC (UK or USA)

If you need any more help, let us know the file types and area your in and can walk through it together.

I believe there is also a setting in the Roxio preferences where you can specify to have all discs "finalized".

    Talking Roxio problem

Many thanks for the info. Ferret/Simrick
I think I'll invest in the Convert X to DVD system.
Sorry Ferret - what I meant to say was I had download a DVD movie to my hard disk. I live in UK. As the info downloaded to the hard disc OK I assumed it wasn't copy protected.
When I checked the downloaded file and the only info was "folder" and 4.3 gb
As you can see I'm a novice, however a colleague has convertXto DVD and states even an idiot like me can work it.
    cheers:
