Thread: Pxe-061 Media test failure. Wont boot up

Hi. my computer keeps randomly restarting and wont boot back up.
It says:
pxe-061 media test failure
exiting nvidea boot agent

It repeats that twice then askes for the os disk.

Theres not really a pattern, once i had just turned it on and opened up a photo, other times it will be when im doing something a little more demanding like image editing.
Ive read that it can be a faulty hardrive or wires, but i have tried 3 different sata wires and ive brought a new hardrive (i had the same problem with the old hardrive which now works fine in another system)
I can fix it by taking the case off and jiggling the wires between the hardrive and the board. But then it will happen again.

Any ideas?

Motherboard: xfx nvidea 650i ultra
Hardrive: westerd digital caviar green WD8000AARS
Ram: 4x1gb ddr2 patriot extreme
Graphics card: sapphire radeon 4850
Os: windows 7 64 bit

Are you sure of this error message? .... i can find loads of information regarding a " PXE-E61 Media test failure" But nothing relating to PXE-061

Have you checked the boot order in the BIOS?

Turn off Network booting in bios entirely, and make sure that in your boot sequence, cd rom and hard drive are first. Network should be last in the boot sequence or not enabled at all.

Another thing you could try is swapping the Boot drive Sata port on the motherboard (You should have two Sata port conections on the MB) it is possible that one of the ports has a damaged area/pin.
