Hi. I have a LinkSys Wireless-B BEFW11S v4 wireless 4-port broadband router hard-wired on a WinXP Home computer and wireless connected to a WinXP Pro laptop. Recently, I did a Windows Update "optional update" to my Netgear wireless card software and lost the connection to my laptop (yes, big mistake). After fiddling around, I decided to uninstall and reinstall my Netgear software and reconfigure the router for limited access via MAC address (as it was before). However, I seem to be having problems with the router. It lets me in to the web-based setup screen (192.168.1.1), but won't let me make any changes, as it is not recognizing my password. I finally did a manual reset (button in the rear of the unit) in the hopes of starting over from scratch. Again, it lets me in to the basic set-up screen with the default password, but will not let me save any changes - it will not accept the default password when I try to save the changes.
I'm wondering if this means that the thing is going bad? It's just over 3 years old, so LinkSys Tech Support won't even answer this question for me (of course!). So, I thought someone here might have had similar issues.
Thanks.
