    Default Firefox Problem

I love Firefox, a great program but when I am adding a hyperlink to something, Firefox does not let me "copy" by clicking on the url in the address bar. I have to type it by hand.

Q: Where the heck is the "switch" to turn this on//off?

I found the following, give it a try and see if it helps you.

The Firefox copy/paste failure has been traced to a piece of junkware called New.net (NewDotNet) which is being bundled out with a lot of genuine applications at the moment, and installs itself in Firefox as if it were an extension.

Symptoms include the copy/paste buttons being grayed out on the context menu and the clipbord being cleared when attempting to copy between tabs or Firefox windows.

To remove new.net you must use the Add/Remove programs feature in Control Panel, or using its own uninstaller if it has been kind enough to leave one lying around, or via
Uninstalling NewDotNet http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html or by downloading and running MS Antispyware and removing anything it recommends to do with new.net

Do not bother attempting to remove via Firefox, it does no good.

There is a comprehensive report on New.net on this site:
    http://www.cexx.org/newnet.htm

If you don't have NewDotNet, then use the Firefox Standard Diagnostic: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_(Firefox)

Working on it but no sign of new.net as yet!

I have Defender running, so it should have spotted new.net on the installation of firefox?

The relevant buttons are indeed greyed out.

Ref the newnet download section, pc refuses to allow this says it contains virus

Why not try going into your C drive, and go to your firefox folder, and search in all folders ureself.. or run a search from your start menu and try finding it.
Thats what i'd try, and if not, try viewing all hidden files and folders, by going into 'control panel' and then 'folder options' then 'View' then check the box that shows hidden files and folders.

As it may be set as hidden.
Thats why i'd try, then i'd try find some software removal tools, if i couldn't delete New.net

A Google search show that a lot of people are suffering the same problem.

There are a few suggestions to try and cure it BUT nothing offical.

With some the problem ocurred after the latest update of FireFox ... However uninstalling and reinstalling an older version does not cure the problem.

    Have a look here:
    http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=405151

    I will stick with Opera
