Thread: Problems w/ programs connecting to the internet

Hi, any program i start except internet explorer doesnt work! it says initiating connection then doesnt start! help me please! i think its something to do with the ports because i turned off my firewall and norton etc. any suggestions??

Hey, are you sure you turned all you're firewalls of, also check to make sure you have all anti virus's off, or scanning programs.
I assume you're problem is for example. lets say you downloaded an online game, and it is blocked from the internet for internet explorer isn't.

i assume thats the case, so check all programs like anti virus's and firewalls, make sure they are turned off and actually close the program if you can.
When you run you're program that you want to connect, doesn't a pop-up come up saying "block/ unblock" Depending on you're OS .... if you're on vista, then you should get a poup where you choose to access internet or run the program.

On XP, this will not happen only if you have an anti-virus or firewall, which can make a popup come up.

If there is nothing you can do about it, depending what an admin will say, then i don't know anything else you can do. [i'm not a pro on these things, just to let you know hehe]
You could also say what OS, router and ISP your on.
