Question Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Hi everyone. I'm at the end of the road with no end in site.

The problem : Internet Explorer version 7.0.5730 displays the message "internet explorer cannot display the webpage"

This problem started suddenly two days ago and I am yet to solve the problem, having been on just about every help site that I can find.
I am connecting to the internet via a belkin adls 2+ modem/router. The modem is connected and works fine with my pc and another wireless computer. The lan cable I am using is fine and is working on another lap top.

I have tried all suggestions mentioned on
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926431.

I am able to log into my modem/router from the laptap and view the settings, suggesting that the link to the modem itself is fine.
I have tried a different browser, firefox, but that presents the same problems. No other internet services appear to be working.

in cmd prompt I am not able to ping a website eg. ping www.google.com, however, I am able to ping any i.p. address, such as google.

Any suggestions would really be a big help.

Assuming your using XP ... try downloading and running winsockfix.

Fantastic stuff. Thats worked a treat. Suppose it would have helped to put my OS down. :-)

    Default Thank you so much

When I saw this post I realized that it was similar to my post.
