Default limited connectivity on 1 PC in a home network

We have 4 PCs working off our router, as well as a handful of wireless devices. One PC, which is wired, connects to Internet Explorer but it shows no color on the page, and takes a lifetime to search or find another site. Firefox just doesn't seem to start at all. I have done the IPconfig/all thing, and it tells me everything is fine.....I cannot update the antivirus software, cannot seem to download anything, and I have attempted to Restore going back about a month prior, and it won't restore.....is the ol PC near death, or is this a WIN XP problem?

Do you find that this computer is running fine when using other programs, or it is generally slow doing anyting? I mean, is the delay only evident when trying to surf the web? How much free space do you have on the hard drive? Have you cleared out all your cookies/cache, etc. from IE? Have you tried starting IE without add-ons?

It is an older PC, now...I built it about 5 years ago...I think its a matter of the old HD beginning to fail...Other programs run, but its getting a bit slower .... I cleared the cache and defragged, etc. however....

My wife went out and bought herself a new tower ....a rather nice one...Intel i7 with 3 gigs ram and Vista 64 bit OS.....smokes the old one....

Problem solved.....I willl tinker a bit with the old one, but will probably strip out the guts and just keep the case and anything else I deem salvageable...DVD-roms, etc.The case is pretty new...Antec 900...so its worth holding onto.

Thanks anyways!! I am sure I will be back here soon.....good website!!
