    Default cant connect to internet

    Hi i am having trouble connecting to windows explorer i am running windows xp on a hp 720a desktop hardwired to a belkin f5d823-4 router and toshiba satellite m110 (wireless connection) My trouble started when i uninstalled trend micro internet security 2008 ,in the security section it says trend micro is on in the firewall section and the antivirus section as well ,i have tried restore ,recovery and downloading a new version of windows explorer 7 to no avail i cant use the disk of trend because it can only be used twice (desktop and laptop) trend told me to use pcctool and tissuprt but they wont let me in either,just comes up as windows cannot find pcctool hope someone can help thanks

    Have a look here; http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html . The security center is falsley reporting firewall and AV if you've uninstalled Trend Micro security suit. Follow this carefully to re-set the repository folder. This just resets the folder and it should then report accurately; http://www.pchell.com/support/multip...y_center.shtml .

    Thanks Fabler i run the two programs you sent me and i have been able to clear trend from the firewall and antivirus ,but internet eplorer still wont open i downloaded winsockxpfix on the laptop and then run it on the desktop in device manager i have 3 network adapters ,wan miniport (IP),wan miniport (network monitor) and hp txpci fast ethernet adapters ,all have the yellow warning marker on them and trend micro common firewall miniport after them ,when you click on internet explorer a box comes up with windows cannot find c:\dockuments and settings \owner my dockuments\category7_.htm thanks again Phoenix

    I would try a system restore to before the uninstalling of Trend Micro. Hopefully that will work and allow access to the internet. I'd contact their customer service and explain the problem again and that you need to uninstall the program without having any issues.
    If system restore not available then get Trend to sort it out. It's looks like an issue with their firewall. Sorry can't be more helpful than that.
