Thread: ?confusing Connection Issue?

my laptop is part of a network which is wired to a hub. All the connections are fine, it says that i am connected to the LAN etc etc

however internet explorer "cannot connect to the webpage" when i try to go on google. I dont know a great deal about networks but i thought something might be blocking the connection. I have disabled windows firewall, but apart from that I cant figure out what the problem might be....am i missing something really obvious?

I have had no problems with this before, and i have made no changes to any settings. (I pinged my IP and all 4 packets were recieved)

Is the laptop running Vista or XP ?

Which version of IE are you running?

Can you still download email? or connect to the Internet with any other program (Checking for updates etc.)
