    Red face warezov virus

my virgin media virus checker had told me I have the w32/warezov.gen4 virus. It is in a file window/system32/cressgrp.dll.
The virus checker cannot delete it and I cannot manually delete it either because it says the program is running.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this virus

    Hi,

    try the following

    Turn of your system restore

start>settings>control panel>system>system restore - turn off system restore (please note this will lose all your restore points, but will stop any trojans or viruses returning)

Next reboot your pc into safe mode
    1. Shut down Windows, and then turn off the power, then back on again
    2. Start tapping the F8 key.
    3. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message.
To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
4.Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected.
5.Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

run your virus scan again and see if it removes it now, once done reboot and scan again (hopefully it will be clean now)

Any problems come back to us and we can try plan B.

    Hi there
I have the same problem as suzanne with warezov.gen4, also have Virgin Media PC Guard. Tried turning off system restore and restarting in safe mode, but PCGuard won't run in safe mode so I can't do a virus scan. Any other ideas?

Try this program. Malwarebytes antimalware, http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php . Download and update. Boot to safemode and run full scan. Reboot and run another full scan.
Only turn off system restore when the PC is clean. Better to have an infected restore point than nothing so if something goes belly up then you can at least try a restore.
Once you get the PC clean then turn off sys restore, reboot and turn sys restore back on, will give a new and clean restore point.

    Smile Re: warezov virus

hello, I had this problem with the warezov virus last year, I did eventually get rid of it by first uninstalling the virgin media anti virus and installing the AVG 8 anti virus. This one picked it up straight away. I now keep the AVG 8 anti virus on my computer as well as the virgin media one, although it does slow my computer down a bit when they conflict. I hope this is helpfull.
