    Default video editing for tapes

Let me start off by saying I'm a flat out rookie. My experience is limited to dubbing home videos from on vcr to another. I'd like to know if there is software and/or hardware available for editing VCR (analog I guess) tapes,or at least software that can make titles (static or animated) that can be then recorded on tape.
I've gotten information for software for digital cameras and tape but not for analog. Should I assume it doesn't exist, or is way too expensive or exotic?

If you got a at least a medium fast PC (~300MHz) and a Video-IN Grafik Card, you can do it easy with the free Software "VirtualDub".
You just record and edit anything you like digital toyour harddisk and later on send it back to the analog VCR. Of course you need enough space on your HD and some experience to get the best results, but its not that hard to do.

I agree a capture card does the trick while not being very expensive. For my analog stuff I use my ATI All in Wonder 9600.
