    Media Stuido is thae full-featured program ,the editing interface is easy to use with plenty of features you want.
    You get 3D transitions, easy to use 2D/3D motion capabilities , support for 3rd party plug-ins, such as Boris FX, SpiceMaster and even Hollywood FX. This makes it a great starting point for beginners

    Adobe Premiere Pro
    Premiere is the standard for affordable non linear editing. It is an excellent program, loaded with features and capabilities. A top Keyframeable 3D motion control that lets you size, crop, rotate and fly your PIPs all over the screen, the audio tools are also fantastic.

    Avid Xpress DV 4

    I've used Adobe so far and I think its incredibly user friendly. The problem is that with so much changing with respect to technology, it seems like this is becoming outdate a bit.

    I think if your using the latest Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 (at time of writing ) you will find its pretty much up to date with current hardware including the abilty to work on HDV if you have he correct plug-in installed.
