    hi,

ok , i will need to ask you a couple of questions first to help me identify what the problem is.

    1) How are you getting video off your camera to your PC, is it a digital camera? are you connecting to a firewire socket on your PC?

    2) What exactly is the problem your having?

    3) What are you computer specs?

    thanks

    2. Adobe won't capture video. nothing happens
    3.Windows XP Home Edition
    Celeron CPU 2.80 GHz

    hi,

ok, can you check the following things for me please.
Firstly can you check that windows xp is seeing your camera when its turned on and you connect it to the firewire port, do this from the windows desktop "without" Adobe running, windows should detect new hardware, and you should have your camera listed in your device manager, can you check this for me please.

    secondly try the following guide
From within Premiere use the DV Device Control Options dialog to specify your specific camcorder manufacturer and model, like the Sony DCR-TRV330 . Then click the Check Status button to have Premiere attempt to verify the connection to your camcorder

The status should be "Online," meaning that Premiere can successfully communicate with your camcorder and can control the tape. If the status is "Offline," then Premiere cannot communicate with your camcorder (so check the connections and make sure that you turned on the camera and set it in VCR mode). If the status is "Detected," then Premiere can communicate with your camcorder, but cannot control the tape (so check that you have a tape inserted).

ok, try that to be going on with and let me know the results

Win XP asks "What do you want Windows to do?" it shows what programs it can open to use the camera with. then i checked to make sure it was online and it was. for some weird reason it started recording the footage. thank you for all the help. it is really appreciated, and helpful.

Do you have a option called "activate recording deck" , i think it may be after or around the 'export to tape" option, have a look for it and make sure thats ticked first.

    see if that helps first

yep, and i checked it. the camcorder started, but no footage was going there. i think i might try re-doing the footage in multimedia for windows instead of quicktime. i think that might be where i messed up. will let you know if that worked.
