Default Video editing software
Ulead Media Studio Pro
Media Stuido is thae full-featured program ,the editing interface is easy to use with plenty of features you want.
You get 3D transitions, easy to use 2D/3D motion capabilities , support for 3rd party plug-ins, such as Boris FX, SpiceMaster and even Hollywood FX. This makes it a great starting point for beginners

Adobe Premiere Pro
Premiere is the standard for affordable non linear editing. It is an excellent program, loaded with features and capabilities. A top Keyframeable 3D motion control that lets you size, crop, rotate and fly your PIPs all over the screen, the audio tools are also fantastic.

Avid Xpress DV 4
This tool is used to produce more than 85% of the shows you watch on television today? The Avid Xpress DV interface and underlying technology is the same toolset used by professional video editors all over the world.

I've used Adobe so far and I think its incredibly user friendly. The problem is that with so much changing with respect to technology, it seems like this is becoming outdate a bit.

I think if your using the latest Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 (at time of writing ) you will find its pretty much up to date with current hardware including the abilty to work on HDV if you have he correct plug-in installed.
