Default start windows me from start up disc

can any 1 tell me what i have to type in once i use a start up disc for me to get my computer to start in dos mode.i was told once but never wrote it down.i know u change the drive then type windows, options, cabs or something but in what order.

i was advised to do this to reload windows from hard drive by aol.i have a problem with computer keep coming up with a page error every time i try to load my norton antivirus.

last time it done this i just reloaded windows me from the hard drive via start up disc & it worked ok.my computer starts up fine so i can use dos prompt it that easier but cannot remember how to reload windows.

i do not have a windows me disc as it was installed on my pc when i got new in 2000.any help would be grateful.
    thanks

    Hi,

When booting off your boot disc i think you can press F8, when the "starting windows" text appears and choose the command prompt to take you to a dos prompt.

Was that what you meant, or have I mis-understood your question?

    Thanks
