    Default c:\windows\system\vmm.32.vxd

    when I start my computer up I get the following error message the following file is missing or corrupted c:\windows\system\vmm.32.vxd
    type the name of the windows loader (eg., c:\windows\system\vmm32.vxd)
    how can I get my computer to start up

    I have moved you post to the windows xp section, but i need to know what version of windows you have, windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP

    Hi I had windows me but upgraded to xp professional this turned out to not be a genuine copy and I had trouble with windows advantage so I uninstalled it to go back to windows me this is when the trouble started.

    ok, well if you cannot get into windows now you will need to reinstall

    Just reinstall ME as a Safe Recovery/repair mode i think it is, and when asked to save system files hit no. You should still have your programs installed.

    how can i manualy get my computer to reboot the windows 2000 me startup? mine continues to state missing file or corrupted what do i do

    As long as you have the original product registration you could borrow a cd and use that, or contact microsoft for a replacment cd http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[ln];326246
