    Hi,

    I was playing some audio files from a CD when the system hung suddenly... After I restarted, i found that no matter what CD I put into the drive, its not able to sense it... It keeps saying "Please insert Disk" ... My PC is a PII processor and the OS is Windows 98.. Can anyone help me out????

    Normally the CDs open in drive E in my computer... It shows the E: icon in My computer... In fact if I right click on it, there is a pop up with Eject in the menu and when I click on it, the device opens up... But, if I do an open on the icon, it says 'Please insert CD'... I thought maybe the device driver for this drive has got corrupted or something... I checked in Add new hardware menu and there when I clicked on the properties for CD ROM it said Error code 10 or something...

    try doing print screen with the error message appearing. in paint. this could save you time. for your problem.

    or save it on a file and email.

    Default CD ROM not working

    you can check device manager;
    Check Device Manager

    1. Click Start
    2. Click Settings
    3. Click Control Panel
    4. Double-click System
    5. Click the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button or just the Device Manager tab.

    Within Device Manager verify that the CD-ROM has no exclamation marks or red Xs. If listed with a yellow exclamation mark or red X, remove the CD-ROM by highlighting the drive and pressing the delete key and reboot the computer to reinstall the CD-ROM drive.

    thanks
