    Unhappy ibm boot disc

My IBM 600e had a minor fire at the power connection at the rear of the laptop.I have taken two laptops and built one. The computer will not "see" the original hard drive, I assume it was taken out at the minor fire.I have put in a 2gig hard drive. The computer opens in DOS and goes to C:\>.How do I reinstal my Win 98 onto this computer.I have the disc.It would appear from all the reading I have done that I need to put in the boot98 floppy disc. However my 600e does not have a floppy drive.
Can anyone of you really bright people help me out?Dont get too technical.
    Thankyou

ok, do you have access to another pc with cd writer and fdd?
you could download a windows 98 boot disk from http://www.bootdisk.com create a bootable fdd, then use the contents of that fdd to create a bootable cd.

You can then use the cd to boot off and load the cd drivers, swap disks and run setup from your win98 cd..

If you just copied the contents off the fdd to cd then that wont work, you have to make the cd bootable.

What software do you use to create cd's, there is normally an option to "make bootable cd", let me know what you use and i will give you a guide to create a bootable cd

The cd maker on this computer is NTI CD&DVD maker version 7.7.0.0908.
When I search in the program for "boot disc "nothing is found.

I dont know that software, i use nero myself.

I think the boot feature for NTI is a "check box" located between the upper two panels and the large one on the bottom when in data CD mode.
