    Default Virus damage

I had a dual system, W98se & W2K Pro, and I was running W2k Pro when surfing the internet and all of a sudden hy HDD start to cycle with scratchy noise.
So I shut it down and disconnect from the net before reboot. After reboot I run AV,antiSpyware, antiSpam but the HDD cycling with scratchy noise did not stop and after running the computer for a while truing to find the virus it finally was unable to reboot the PC hangs but HDD keep recycling. I tried to clean with killdisk, but it does not see the disk but HDD keep recycling with scratchy noise.
Does anyone beside the bad guy know what virus cause this.
I like to send this HDD to some expert to research the problem.
    Thanks

Im not quite sure what you mean by "scratchy" noise, but it dosent sound like a virus problem it sounds more like your hard drive it damaged/faulty.

Your could run some diagnostic software on your hard driver which you can normally download from your hard drive manufacturers website.

this could be a sign that hard disk may be failing soon. or the virus caused the error message to disappear and the damage.

On the odd occasion my HDD did this (500GB) but stopped and no probs since but what was the answer to your own particular problem? I am interested to see what it was.
