Internet Explorer Won't Open in Win98SE
I am unable to open either IE or Firefox on Win98SE. Neither will open after double clicking on any of the icons or from the Start menu/Programs/IE. This started happening last week and is still not working.
Has anyone had this problem? And how do I proceed to get things going again?
I called the ISP (Adelphia) and they said it was something wrong with Windows or IE. The modem and all cable connections are fine. I'm able to get email thru Outlook Express from the Adelphia webmail server, so the PC is apparently able to communicate with the internet but otherwise I can't open IE.
I reinstalled Win98SE from original CD's (without reformatting hard drive) but the problem continues. I've scanned with Ad-Aware, Norton AntiVirus, deleted history, cookies, temp internet files, etc, etc, defragged the PC.
All with no luck, still can't open IE in any way, shape or form.
The IT tech (same guy who I got PC from) here at my work says the only option may be to reformat c-drive and upgrade to Win2000. This seems beyond my limited PC capabilities to back things up, wipe everything out, install Win2000, then re-install all the existing software.
Does my problem sound familiar to anyone? Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!!!
