    Default Reformat HD AFTER Vista

I in stalled Vista into one of my computer and somehow there has been problems with the system. I should have installed it as a separate OS BUT instead installed it as Upgrade.
NOW I wish to re-format it for XP but looks like it cannot be done! I cannot read any other OS other than Linux!

I tried to reinstall XP but failed as it could not load the OS and then load Vista BUT then it claims that there is an error and I have to re-start. So this jist goes on and on!

    Any solution please!

    Thank you.

If you dont need to keep any data, then I would just delete all the partitions on the drive and then reinstall XP again..

If you boot of your XP CD, you should get a point where you can create/delete partitions, just delete them all and create a new one, that should work

Unhappy Re: Reformat HD AFTER Vista

Yes, I agree, that's what I should be doing. Unfortunately, I can't even get it to boot from the XP Cd! It checks the XP Cd then bypasses it and logs into Vista and then the problem continues.

I even tried booting from a floppy BUT it has been deleted from the list of IDE Devices!! Getting into BIOS and trying to change the booting priority cannot work as the FD Device is not listed anymore!

However when I booted with the Linux LiveCd's they all can boot up! So I tried to install the Linux in the HD but it notes that there is insufficient space!

The above are the problems that I have encountered.

Am still trying to find a way out.

    Any other methods to try?

    Thank you.

Goto www.bootdisk.com and download a windows 98 boot disk, boot of the windows 98 floppy disk you created and use fdisk to delete partitions on your hdd, then try reinstalling XP
