Thread: what about xp programs compatibility?

I'm considering getting Vista Ultimate and my greatest fear is that I'll get it and some of my programs won't be compatible with Vista. Such as : a midi drum module virtual instrument, digital audio workstation, driver for wireless pci card which needed an update for XP, and quite a few more that were considerably costly and that I cannot afford to have not work after spending big bucks on Vista. I realize Vista is relatively new and this may be a tough question to answer and I should probably wait for at least the first service pack to come out, but I have a new system with a dual core processor that I heard would function better with Vista. Plus it sounds really cool and I guess I just am a little anxious.

The only thing I can suggest is to run the Windows Vista Upgrade advisor http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...deadvisor.mspx . Works with 32bit versions.

That told me everything I needed to know. There are a couple of hardware and program issues but nothing updates won't fix.
