    Default Microsoft Frontpage 2002

I have been using this program for ages with no problems, now, in the middle of some work, it comes up "access violation" and refuses me anything!

Its a genuine bone fida hologramed purchase with serial and I have in installed on a vista machine, up to now, with no problems.

All my web work has now ground to a halt because of this crap. I could contact Microscrewyou.com but they want £46 PER support - not a chance!

edit: I rang Microscrewyou on the offchance to be told there was no support for this product. UNLESS I paid up £46; I told them to stuff it.

Do you have automatic updates for Windows ticked?

I had the same problem with Norton Antivirus ... worked in the morning and stopped after aWindows update. I know it was the update because I uninstalled it and Norton worked great ... reinstalledit Antivirus would not work again (Tried Three times ..same results). Contacted M$ wanted money before sorting the problem. Contacted Norton Support ... they suggested upgrading their product for £50.

Running XP and waiting for Windows 7 to come out before I upgrade, So Sod the lot of them .. i don`t accept Windows Updates automatically anymore and binned Norton and Installed Comodo (Firewall & Antivirus)

I deleted norton (pre installed) as soon as I plugged this pc in for the first time. I hate it. I am on Vists, IE8 and do not know if a download caused it, will have to check the download history as soon as I can, but thanks, a good pointer I never thought of.

I uninstalled FP2002 and reinstalled it with same result BUT .................

all of a sudden I got a window popped up: Microsoft Frontpage did not work the last time you opened it, do you wish to open it in "safe mode", so I thought what the hell, Yes! And the damned software kicked off again.

I was also wondering if it was anything to do with file associations? When I reopened FP the first time, I notice that in that, and subsequent attempts, the normal windows yellow folders had been replaced by a blank miniature square. But, as soon as I accepted "safe mode" it has apparently returned to normal, whatever normal is.

So, at present it is working but I nearly gave myself an anxiety attack because I thought that I would not be able to update any of my pages on a massive massive (over 1.3GB) site. I had to take deep breaths for a while, such was my worry. I was working on a local aquatic site at the time that I manage and was quite anxious.

I do wish somebody was big enough and brave enough to take bring us a new OS and software to match, its about time Microscam was given a fright.

Linux is fine but, because it is an open software, it can cause havoc in the wrong hands. Open office is the same. Ver 2 worked fine on my laptop (I was refused permission to put my MS Office copy in there so I thought sod you!), but Ver 3 is causing corruptions with Office when I transfer files across.

I may open another thread on something I have just thoguht about .......... brb

and in answer to the question, auto update IS enabled.
