    Default Vista start up problem

When I start up my pc the following message appears.

    Diskette drive 0 seek failure.

Press F1 to continue, F2 to enter SET UP

I do not understand the message nor am I able to remove it. Please can someone out there help?

    Regards

    Malcolm.

I can't think you have a floppy drive on your Vista machine. So I'd try a memory check to see if your ram modules are ok.
Run the standard test first. If no faults found try the extended test (more accurate but might take up to 8 hours to complete!)

Try pressing f2 when booting up then go to Standard CMOS Features, then highlight drive A. change it to none. should not have anything in there unless you have floppy drive. (I`m pesuming you don`t have a floppy drive? ... Ah the dear old floppy

Hi Fabler, I have run the Standard Memory Test, but error message still there. I would like to try something else before going on to the 8hr. Memory Test.

Hi Ferret, I have tried your instructions regarding my Vista start up program. However I was unable to get into column 1 which contains Drive A. I tried and tried but no luck!

I have solved the problem! However, I am not sure how. I suspect the drivers or memory.

Thank you all who helped me to get on the right track.

    Regards,

    Malcolm
