    Hi,

Welcome to the forums, can your please answer a few questions for me to help diagnose the problem.

    1. You say you downloaded a DVD, do you mean its an .avi file or DIVx file, or do you mean an actual DVD disc you play from your DVD drive, or both?
    2. What software and version are you using to playback the DVD's , media player? PowerDVD etc

    thanks

Hi, this is a tricky one, i assume you didnt use to have this problem? Also does it happen with any AVI file or just a few

    1. If the avi file plays back satisfactory as soon as you boot up, then I believe it shouldn't be a codec issue. Anyhow, it won't hurt to check that you're all covered there.

    2. Is your system clean from virus/adware/spyware, have you run any system scans recently to make sure you have no nasties installed on your system

    3. Since your problem kicks in later, I'd suggest you try playing back at a lower quality setting, and see if you notice any difference. Additionally, go to the Start menu -> Run..., type mplayer2.exe and press OK. See if the avi file plays back there with no problems.

    4. Do you any of type of media file play ok, .wmv for exmaple.

    thanks

    Hi

Could you try creating a new user profile in windows and logging on with that and see if you still get the same problems.

Also when you ran the spyware/adware scans, what did you use? and did it find anything?

    thanks
