Thread: you need to install active x

keep getting[ you need to install active x ] i also being told on screen that my security seetings are not allowing cookies from site when i try to access messenger/hotmail

Hello,

Are you getting a panel at the top of internet explorer asking you to install active x, you normally do and you just click the install option.

Another thing to check are your internet explorer setttings, from internet explorer goto
tools>internet options

then under "security" check custom and make sure "download signed activex controls" is set to "prompt"
also under the "privacy" make sure the slider is set to medium.

done what you said no joy /also getting install box and clicking on it and nothing /other message says pc is blocking cookies from micro/passport

ok, just check these security settings once more for me.

Download signed ActiveX controls
(set to ) Prompt

Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
(set to) Enable

Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
(set to) Enable

Also are you running any thing like norton security or zone alarm etc?

got rid of norton got spybot search and destroyandad-aware personal

friends now telling me that when i send e-mails with pictures all they get is an red x in top left hand corner

have you checked these settings

In Outlook Express, Click Tools -> Options -> Send.
Under Mail Sending Format, select HTML, then press the HTML Settings button. Make sure the "Send pictures with messages" box is checked.

Your pc seems to have a few problems, have you considered a repair/install of xp or system file check, assuming you have the original XP cd and code,
