Thread: Have i lost every thing?

hi i hope someone can help i think i have really messed up. to start with im not great with computer jargon and i only know what i have taught myself. ok firstly my computer kept turning it's self off and just restarting then i got the dreaded blue screen and then it literally just kept freezing up so i had to just turn it off nothing would work, so i thought i would do a system restore, anyway it froze up half way through it and now when i switch it on it goes straight into the screen where you can start in safe mode so i chose last configeration and it gets to the windows xp screen then stops please please tell me i haven't really messed things up. I have also tryed starting like normal and just end up with a blank screen, and also safe mode then it says
stop : c0000135 ( unable to locate components) this application ha failed to start because winsrv was not found. reinstalling the application may fix the problem. does this mean i have lost everything on my computer.?
also i have no drivers for it as i was given the wrong ones when i brought it so a friend downloaded all the drivers graphics etc from the internet so i have'nt a clue whzat i would have to do.

No, I don't think you've lost everything. It sounds like you have a compatibility problem with some software. Have a look at this and see if it helps you at all:

You may have to boot from your CD into safe mode to perform the steps. Perhaps one of the forum moderators can give you more specifics than I.
