error in pc
My clock shows time as
e.g 12:22: VIRUS ALERT
Also when i right click on taskbar, the task manager option is not visible,it has been disabled,
I have 5 partitions on my hard disk, C,D,E,F,G. . But now when i click My computer, I can see partions E,F,G only being displayed.
Can anyone help me options other than re-installing XP again
i am using start menu type of display ( not Classic start menu ) in taskbar & start menu properties dialog box. But now i am not getting the PROGRAMS button at all.Rest all buttons are ok

Re: error in pc
First things first. I suspect the Virus alert is nothing to do with the clock. It is just showing up next to the clock on the taskbar.
Your computer is telling you what is causing you the problems. Your infected by a Virus and possibly some other little nasties as well.
What antivirus software do you use?
Boot into safe mode (tap the F8 key while the computer is booting usually does it)
Then run your Antivirus software (unles you have Norton which will not run from safe mode)
I would also suggest you download Superantispyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/
and run that. Above is a link to the free version.

Re: error in pc
As well as Ferret's advice, download malwarebyte's antimalware program; http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php .
Update SAS and Malwarebyte's program and run both in safe mode and normal mode. Safe mode; http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm .
Be aware that some motherboards use F5 to enter the screen to pick safe mode.

Re: error in pc
arvindram11,
Seems you're not happy with other's help with your problem other than the first poster's reply. In that respect I will bow out graciously and leave you in Ferret's capable hands.
Apologies.
