    Unhappy HELP!!! :o

Ok Here Are My Problems - Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated:

    1) I Have One Computer That I Think I Deleted My Windows File And The Cd Tray That You Put The Cd In Is Broke So I Cannot Reload Windows - Anyone Have Any Ideas On How To Restore The Deleted Files To The System? Would "system Restore" Do It?

    2) I Have Another Computer That Upon Booting It Crashes - What Do I Do To Get It Not To Crash?

    Thanks For All Your Help

The first computer if you can get it loaded try system restore it will not do any more harm.

Perhaps if you could give a bit more information about both computers we could advise you a bit more.

eg. deleted my windows file ... mean nothing to me
Window will not boot ... again what does it report, does it try to boot then fail, can you boot in safe mode?

    Unhappy Re: HELP!!! :o

When I go home tonight I will get you the information - sorry about that. There is also no need to be short with me. I didn't know you needed the specifications in order to diagnose the problem.

I did try system restore and nothing happened.

I was trying to give information of where I deleted the files. I went into add/remove program files and took out stuff - why? Don't ask - lol - just did...

Is there somewhere deep in the computer I can go and find these deleted files?

As for my other computer - it does not report anything - I would have told you. It goes to boot then crashes. I'll also try that in safe mode.

Thank you for your help - I do appreciate it.

Sorry if you though I was being "short"with you, certainly that was not my intention.

However we do need as much information as we can to help you with the problems.

For instance you second problem, the computer not booting ... no one can tell you how to get it to boot without knowing WHY it wont boot.

On the first computer if you deleted the files and shut down the computer, there is little chance og recovering them without some expensive software.

Why not just buy new DVD/CD burner (they are reasonably cheap) and install it. Then at least you could reinstall Window if the worst comes to the worst.

    It's ok - no worries

Well, to be quite honest, I came here to ask you why it wasn't booting - lol - it just crashes -I don't know how to find out why

Also, can I hook up a cd/dvd burner to the computer so I can reinstall windows? Can I reinstall it through a burner?

Almost every CD/DVD unit for computers are also able to use burning software.

If you are not comfortable working inside the computer (Fitting a DVD drive) You could buy a USB drive, Either would allow you to Repair/re-install Windows.

The Computer that will not boot? What happens when you press the on switch

eg:- Any noise like fan or harddrive spinning
Does it make any "Beeping" sounds if so can you count them (not being funny they are coded to tell you what is going wrong)

Does any light come on either on the computer or keyboard.

Thanks Ferret - 1) Yeah I am most deifnitely not comfortable working inside a computer - don't really know computers all that well. Does a USB drive cost alot of money and would it be able to just plug into the back of the computer?

    2) The computer that will not boot - I have to check this out over the weekend for you and write all my information down and bring it to you Monday with the beeps and such - lol Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. I hope you have a great weekend and I will talk to you Monday

An external usb DVD Drive in Maplin will cost around £60

Ebay (If you are a member) sell them for £25/£30 plus postage.

The drive will then plug into ANY Computer usb port.
